What I Learned About Growing Up At Museum of Ice Cream

I spent my 27th birthday at the Museum of Ice Cream and it made me think, what is being a grown up? Can anyone define it? When I was little, I thought 27 would feel a lot older than what it feels like to be three years away from 30. If you read my blog you can see my life is pretty on track to what society may define as success, but that doesn’t stop me from questioning if I’m where I’m supposed to be. But where are we supposed to be?

The  Museum of Ice Cream reminded me that there is no such thing as age. Where we’re supposed to be is  right here, right now. Age is just a time construct  so we can track life. Perhaps with age we grow wiser (I hope), but age does not define us.

Walking inside, I felt like a little kid again, I was turning 27 but I felt 7 in a good way! There was ice cream to taste every where I turned! It was candy land in real life.  I could play and take pictures! Playing in the sprinkle pool, reminded me of playing in the sandbox! I even made some friends because everyone there was playing and using their imaginations. Why can’t we at any age play like we did at The Museum of Ice Cream, or be excited by things as simple as ice cream?

The museum reminded me that at any age we can do whatever we want. If we feel too young to achieve our dreams, it reminds us that shouldn’t stop us (heck, the Museum of Ice Cream was created by a 25-year-old) and if we feel too old, that shouldn’t stop us from enjoying life like we did when we were kids.

Being at the Museum of Ice Cream on My birthday gave me a new perspective. All we have is time. That time is now.

“There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age.” Sophia Loren
