Celery Juice is currently a HUGE trend thanks to this article by the Medical Medium. But does it really work?
This is my story.
First we need to start with why I decided to try this. Sadly the chronic illness in the title is not clickbait (I wish!) After battling debilitating stomach issues for the past five months, I had an endoscopy and was diagnosed with chronic gastritis, reflux esophagitis, acid reflux and I’m currently being tested for IBS & other potential chronic illnesses which I hope I don’t have! During this time, I was hospitalized with pneumonia. Then I suffered severe side effects to prescribed PPI’s (acid reflux medication) that were supposed to cure my stomach problems.
But they made me worse…
The side effects left me sicker than I have ever been in my life: dizzy, swollen, joint pain, rashes, extreme fatigue, rapid heart-rate & because I couldn’t eat from the pain I lost 15 pounds. The doctors told me this couldn’t be because of the medicine so I continued to take it, only to get more severe symptoms like burning skin rashes on my face & more on my body. On a scale of 1-10 my pain was a 12.
I stopped the medication and the severe symptoms subsided but I was left still with stomach issues and exhaustion.
Since no doctors were giving me answers & medicine was making me worse I decided to try this celery juice everyone was talking about. My friend, Annie, had done it and it had transformed her life. So what did I have to lose?
According to the Medical Medium, “Celery is able to starve pathogens, plus it contains a multitude of undiscovered mineral salts that act together as an antiseptic. When these powerful mineral salts make contact with viruses and other pathogens—troublemakers responsible for chronic illness—the salts begin to break down the pathogens’ cell membranes, eventually killing and destroying them.”
He advises to drink 16 ounces of pure celery juice every morning 30 minutes before eating anything. So that’s what I did. I have drank celery juice every-morning now for the past two ponds.
So did it help?
Surprisingly, yes! I am by no means cured! But I can live again. My hunger came back, I am now able to eat. I am no longer in debilitation pain or fatigue. Prior to this ordeal, anything I ate, even celery juice would make me burp and have acid reflux. That happens much less now.
I am able to eat more foods too. Prior to this so many foods made me sick, I couldn’t eat anything that wasn’t soup or a smoothie. Now as long as I keep my portions small, I can eat pretty similar to my normal diet. My rash has gotten much better and so have my energy levels. In fact, The first thing I noticed with celery juice is more energy and no more brain fog.
Did I do anything else different?
Not much. I take daily probiotics and vitamins (which I did before this) Sleep at an incline, try to not eat before bed and also try to stand for 30 minutes after eating. But the main change has been the celery juice daily.
So yes, I would say the celery juice did assist in curing my chronic illness. I still have more doctors to see and am not against taking medication. I also plan to work on my diet more. But this has given me so much relief that I would recommend you to try it!
